Tight-Lines
Half Priced Books in Berkeley is great. Other side of the bay mind you, but a great used book shop. Amoeba Records if you are into collecting records and stuff like that. Check out the Mission around bar times (9PM-2AM) for some of the best street food in the bay area. Really something else what people cook up in little carts on the side of the street. If you check out Blackheart there is a decent bar right next door called Zeigist (I dont know how to spell it). Not too bad... lots of your typical stuck up hipster types, but the people who run it are great and so is the beer selection. Golden gate park Buffalo are fucking awesome. I could watch them eat grass all day. Oh, Crissy Field has tons of babes on a a good sunny day. So check that out.
hogg
You gotta hit City Lights Bookstore in North Beach for the SF experience. And yes, Kinokuniya Bookstore in Japantown Mall is awesome. Bonus: just under it, on the ground floor, is Suzu Ramen, my favorite ramen-ya in SF.
Iwar
I asked the same question before my trip and got a bunch of good suggestions in this thread: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/random-crap/830-things-do-san-francisco.html

Jake
If you're by the buffalo it's fun to go to stow lake and rent a rowboat or paddle boat if the weather is nice. as @Lochlan can attest the lake will eat your cell phone if you're not careful though... hell all of golden gate park is nice. just walk from one end to the other. nicky papers
Valerie Vargas
we will @Jake, we barely got a look in at the japanese tea garden last time, doh! ps, i'll make sure my iphone is safely tucked into my zipped jacket pocket!

MadeIndelible
The Exploratorium is pretty sweet. I second the Mission's bar scene. The Independent. The Boom Boom Room. Slim's. Half Moon Bay (The harbor, It's Italia, Poplar Beach, the tide pools at the south end of Poplar, Old Princeton Landing, Sushi Main Street...) nicky papers
Lochlan
As @dooktruck mentioned the night tour at Alcatraz is a must do if you can get tickets and enjoy taking pictures...in the middle of the bay as the sun is setting around a rusted and corroding island, shamwow...some damn good photos! Plus it gets kind of ghostly fun.... Also the Contemporary Jewish Museum is doing a Houdini exhibit right now...going on the seventeenth and can let anyone know how it is after if anyone is interested....
