SeeSea
Went to KC for the weekend and managed to snag a walk in with Noah Moore, he filled in a pretty awkward spot with this rose: Looks like it was meant to be there! hogg
Thanks man, you've got the dual Lehi tigers on the ribs, right? That's pretty high praise coming from you... I (obviously) really dig that tattoo, Lehi's tigers are incredible. That's me. Man, I'm glad they're done! Haysman
That's me. Man, I'm glad they're done! I respect that. I'll be honest in that there were parts (front hip points on the pelvis and the pelvic crest, especially) that were pretty brutal. I can't imagine going back in for seconds, not at least anytime soon ;) How long did you wait in between sides? sighthound
@Haysman super jealous of that tiger, it's amazing. I was just in Richmond the other week for a wedding but didn't have tattoo plans. Brian's been on my bucket list for a long time now. Have gotten something from pretty much everyone around him from D.C. to N.C. and they all tell me that I need to get something from him. One of these days... The artist I go to in Asheville has a backpiece by Brian and the thing is as strong as they come. I love going in every few months and checking out his ~8' wall space totally overflowing with to-be & in-progress back stencils. So much respect for that kind of dedication from both tattooer and tattooee alike. sighthound 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/12-latest-tattoo-lowdown/?page=245#findComment-94874 Share on other sites
falco4758
Above that, is that a healed tattoo in the same style? If you have any photos of healed tattoos like this I'd love to see them, I'm curious what will happen to all the white stuff and other details. hey man yeah i have 3 other healed cats, the cheetah above was done by John or yogi Barrett, healed great and looks amazing still how to capture screen they see zero sun and always have protection on if they do so the whites are fine Tesseracts, TrixieFaux, tatB and 2 others 5 Quote Link to comment https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/12-latest-tattoo-lowdown/?page=245#findComment-94882 Share on other sites
MadeIndelible
At the request of @polliwog , here's that tattoo from @cltattooing . This was after it was all healed except for the smoke, which later lightened to where you can see the outlines. I can't imagine going back in for seconds, not at least anytime soon ;) How long did you wait in between sides? Lehi did them at the same time, over 4 short sessions. They took 7.5 hours total, which is amazing, considering how big they are. Graeme
Seriously?!? He is fast. I feel like I'm trucking along at a third that pace. Tattoos take as long as they take, there's not much to be gained in comparing the speed at which different tattooers tattoo, especially when they're working in very different styles. Mark Bee
I dunno - It seems like a reasonable thing to discuss on a tattoo forum. Its just people comparing notes on their experiences. Sigh, I knooowwwwwww. I was just way off in my own internal estimation of how long this would take. Little teeny-tiny scales with little teeny-tiny shadows and little teeny-tiny glints of sun off of each one. MadeIndelible
Dragon kois make me think of people who are in a transformation, but get trapped in a painting or something instead. I'm not saying that that's you @Eilin , but that's just what that makes me think of. SeeSea
As my tattooer once said while working on my backpiece "be thankful you've got a tiger there, not some dragon - just imagine how tattooing all those damn scales would feel and how long would it take!". lol Well, THANKS there for that, my friend, LOL! ;) And I'm talking scales on FISH! ::facepalm:: I like your tattooer's attitude. Mine purposely avoided any conversation of time commitment ... he just said he couldn't estimate it based on how my skin would take the ink, how I healed, etc. He didn't really mislead me, but in my naivete, I had no concept of the magnitude of this effort. He asked me to book several sessions ahead...so I booked several ahead...which turned into several more ... If someone had said SeeSea, this is gonna take over a year of your life, sitting every 3-ish weeks, with 2-3 passes over every square inch of your back...I don't know what I would have done. So, in retrospect, I'm glad I didn't know and didn't have to agonize over that decision. On the other hand, it's trashed my spring, summer and fall running seasons and significantly damaged my ability to eat all the Reece's Peanut Butter Cups I want. And in other news, I continue to have a serious girl-crush on your back! Ragen
@SeeSea Hey, I've got a dragon on my arm (plenty of tiny scales) and also a raven on my back (those damn feathers were a nightmare!) lol Strangely, I did enjoy outlining them. I guess it's because of short and rather straight lines. Much less painful than long curvy ones. suburbanxcore
A little in-progress shot my wife posted on Instagram of the peony on her elbow from Martin Lacasse at Olde City Tattoo. You can see the back of the snake as well. That's also the first peony that bloomed in our yard this spring. Here's an in-progress shot he posted of the snake. From @lacassetattoo. Finally, here's the ditch peony.
