I am surprised there is no thread on this already. Anyone on the east coast about to get hit by it? Im over here 10 miles from NYC at the moment. New Jersey is shutting down a bunch of roads and NYC shut down all public transport earlier today. Seems like it's going to bit of a shit-show. Biggest hurricane for the area in 100 years, as I've heard.

Wishes everyone is the best of luck and hopes NYC is not hit, cause yeah.....35 billion dollar is alot of money, let alone all the people/businesses who are going to get screwed.

Fill up your bath tubes with water, so you can flush your toilet, in case. Non-flushing toilets suck.

I'm in CT and I'm just now getting some heavy rain from one of the outer bands. Tonight and tomorrow should be interesting. I hope everyone is safe!

Bands are tricky, the only person to die where I live was some kid who went outside in between them and got caught when a gust of wind snapped a tree limb on him, best to stay inside until the thing has passed then go sight seeing.

Got out of work late but still managed to get home after it all, and as always my camera was with me.. this is not the worst of it by far we're still waiting for more to come from the north and even more flooding through out the week.

Here in CT there was more damage from flooding than from the wind. Parts of CT got 10" of rain in less than 24 hrs. and many people lost their homes and posessions due to flooding. I live inland and got almost 8" and many streets were closed due to rivers overflowing, a few homes and cars were destroyed and there was at least one known fatality. So if it was less than advertised it sure still caused a hell of a lot of damage.

No, it's cool but thanks. It's obviously been a long day didn't mean to sound so defensive. Actually you were right and technically by the time it hit up here it was "just" a tropical storm so it definitely could have been worse. Still an amazing amount of damage was done and almost 800,000 people are without power.

Yea it hit a lot less than what I had expected but it still did take a toll on us here in the NYC metro area. I am currently sitting home unpaid because New Jersey trains into NYC are currently down for the count.

I am very surprised. My friend was scheduled to go to Invisible NYC today and they are actually opened! Very very surprised!
