I haven't written or been actively posting up anything lately...
And there's good reason for it. I have a lot going on, we all do. Life here on the recent has been a testament to the true meaning of love.
The overwhelming outpour of support from FAMILY: YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, has been humbling, and heartwarming, and a big eye opener to just how much impact one person (Richard) can have on a relatively large circle of likeminded individuals whom happen to share the same passion for their profess
Hello! I just posted an entry on aftercare on our site at Blacksand Tattoo Co. | Now Open!. I would really appreciate if any of you could take some time to read the entry and give some feedback/suggestions regarding the process I describe in the post. Thanks!
Home again home again, reflecting on my day.
I have once again been blown away , and really kind of disheartened by jail tattoos.lol
In the past 2 weeks I have seen several full sleeves of jail tattoos done with sewing neeldles and playstation motors, etc.. reallyyyyy ghetto setups..
What perplexes and disheartens me is that this work I'm seeing often has more attention to detail and better shading than some of the stuff ive seen out of shops as of late lol..sigh.
The other half of me was aw
Well..I've never written a blog entry before but this is as good a time as any.
I'm an apprentice..And as I read through posts about people having a hard time getting an apprenticeship I can't help but feel ridiculously fortunate to be in my position..
I have a university degree that I obtained doing what other people said I should do with my life.. worked my ass off.. then followed my heart..
I worked 3 jobs.. day job, side job, and working for free at the shop almost every evening..did all

As I am working on improving my artistic skillset, I am interested in making some trades with anyone that wants to do so. Watercolor or whatever is cool with me. Let me know what you want and i'll get something going. It also helps give me a little subject matter direction to work on. When left to my own devices, I tend to only work on the shit I want to, and that isn't really how you progress...
I'm almost ready to make the move to Oakland and all my wonderful LA clients have been keeping me busy doing fun tattoos. Check them out here

In general, I love tattooing, but recently hate the politics and judgmental attitudes coming from within the community, I too have been guilty of this....
A recent death in this big family, "the Body Art FAMILY", has hit me hard. And I have kept this:
Shannon Larratt is Zentastic › I can scarcely move or draw my breath // Let me, let me freeze again to death
up for days, reading it over and over and I cry, and sometimes I laugh but more often I just get sad... I tear up right now thinking ab
Each time I get a new tattoo I walk out of the shop feeling a little ragged, thinking, I love this, but I'll wait a few months before going back. By dawn the next day I'm thinking about heading right back down for more. My partner just shakes her head at me. "Addict" she says with a smile. How can something so painful be so compelling? I had a consultation at The Pearl a few weeks ago and we mapped out my right forearm. When we booked the date I was disappointed that I was going to have to wait
Its been a while since I joined a forum and took an active part in discussions. My previous forays in to the world of forums typically revolved around video gaming. For many years I was a very active poster on a clan website based around the seminal FPS UT'99. I made tons of friends there and met many of them during my trips to the UK and the USA. Eventually, though, new games came along and the community dried up. I have remained in contact with many of the friends I made there though we talk v

I have been turning over some ideas in my head about possibly starting a blog(not on LST) about my experiences with tattooing in general.
For any of you that have blogs already...how has your experience been? I have never participated heavily in social media or a blog. I don't know how they work and what I would specifically talk about. What makes a blog that people read and enjoy?

NOT MY GIFT TO YOU

We are constantly being asked by people , how either they or their family members can “get in to tattooing?” How they can obtain a license, open a shop, get a job and so on and so on and so on.
In recent years I’ve had more and more people indignantly explain, that even though they or their relatives really want to become tattooists, nobody will teach them! This is often at our initial introduction.
One person claimed in a recent letter emailed to our shop
I love tattooing. I love everything about it, and thankful for the life and opportunities it has given my family.
I was born into this world and can't imagine one that is better. The characters and experiences that have surrounded me since birth have shaped and formed me into the person I am. Good and bad, sacred and obscene, they have given me, in my opinion, a better world view than most.
My only regret is that I did not earlier realize the gift I was given at birth.
Thank you Tattooing, I
